British English Training for Dubai Bound Teachers

By Pinky Davo

For most Filipinos the opportunity to work abroad is a dream come true. Very few achieve this goal however because they lack the communication skills to hurdle global requirements. Of course, it was understood that these teachers were the cream of the crop - chosen from numerous candidates vying for a slot to a better life. But even though they were armed with above average language skills, they discovered that they still had a lot to learn.

Steve Powell, a native speaker of British English provided and facilitated training in the nuances and fundamentals of British English. It was an opportunity for the participants to immerse themselves in the language through a lot of fun filled activities! They familiarized themselves with the British idioms. And ultimately learned that “toilet” is American English and “loo” is British English. Wouldn’t it confound you if you didn’t know that “lift” is a ride in the USA and “lift” is an elevator in England?

Not only that, they were able to practice what they had learned in conversation, games and lively debates! For most of the participants, time flew, and the 20-hour-training session surely felt like 20 minutes! The participants remarked “It’s a totally different learning atmosphere that Languages Internationale and Steve Powell have provided. It is dynamic and engaging. It emphasizes the importance of language and culture in communication”

Languages Internationale continues to believe that total language learning should be informative as well as fun. As of this time 8 of the participants have already flown to Dubai, armed with the kind of language training that only Languages Internationale can DELIVER!
